The Truth About Building a Business That Looks “Amazing”

From the outside, travelling for work looks incredible.
Airports. Hotels. Club lounges. New cities. New people.
And don’t get me wrong, it is amazing.
But there’s another side that isn’t spoken about enough.
It’s early mornings straight into workshops.
It’s being away from family and the people who ground you.
It’s trying to hold onto routines, like gym and wellbeing practices, and sometimes watching them slip.
It’s moments of disconnection, even when you’re surrounded by people.
And still… I wouldn’t change it.
Because this is the life I chose.
And more importantly, it’s a life I designed.

There’s this idea that success comes from balance.
Work here. Life here. Keep them separate. Keep them neat.
But in my experience, that thinking no longer serves us.
Because the truth is, there isn’t a “work life” and a “home life”.
There is just life.
One life.
And trying to split it into compartments can actually pull you further away from what matters.

One of the most powerful shifts I’ve made came from a simple idea my coach shared:
You don’t have multiple lives to manage.
You have one life to integrate.
That changes everything.
It means instead of chasing balance, you start asking better questions:

What does success actually look like for me?

What does connection look like?

What kind of life am I building? Day to day, not just someday?

When I started my company in 2017, I wasn’t chasing status, or recognition, or someone else’s version of success.
I had a clear intention:
To build a business that creates a life. For me, my family, and the people I choose to walk alongside.
Not a business that sits separate from who I am.
Not a business that demands I become someone else.
But one that reflects my values, my priorities, and the way I want to live.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe:
The most successful businesses are built by people who understand that life isn’t something that happens outside of work.
It’s happening all the time.
So your life needs to work for you, 24/7.

That means creating space for:

Family

Love

Connection

Health

Growth

And yes, business

Not in competition with each other, but in rhythm.

So if you’re building something, or thinking about it, pause for a moment.
Step away from what the world tells you success should look like.
And instead, define it for yourself.
Because when your business is aligned with your life, everything shifts.
You stop chasing.
You start creating.
You stop separating.
You start integrating.
And that’s where things begin to feel not just successful…
…but meaningful.
