Elephant in the Room Consulting named State Finalist in Telstra Business Awards
Recognising the heart, hustle and humanity behind its core mission, Brisbane’s Elephant in the Room Consulting (EITRC) has been named a State Finalist inthe 2025 Telstra Best of Business Awards (Indigenous Excellence).
Founded in 2017 by Jenni Walke, a proud Bundjalung woman with over 25 years’ experience in leadership, strategy, and coaching, EITRC began with just $43 and a mission to create meaningful change through Indigenous–led leadership.
Today, it’s a globally scaling consultancy operating across five continents, renowned for guiding organisations to embed cultural intelligence into leadership and transformation. In 2025, the Carindale–based company celebrated eight years in business and reached a major milestone, surpassing $1 million in revenue with a lean, high–impact team.
“We’re incredibly proud to be recognised as a finalist, as this journey for us has always been about more than just business – it’s about creating space for Indigenous voices, knowledge, and leadership to shape the future,” Ms Walke said.

EITRC’s mission is grounded not only in innovation and strategy, but in a deep commitment to giving back. The company proudly partners with Yalari, a not–for–profit organisation that provides full boarding school scholarships to Indigenous children from regional, rural, and remote communities across Australia. EITRC also partners with the NRL Dolphins, supporting programs that promote cultural pride and community connection through sport.
“We don’t just talk the talk, we live our values every day,” Ms Walke said. “We’re proud to use our success to help empower the next generation of First Nations youth to become leaders, change–makers, and storytellers in their own right. This recognition is also for them, and we’re excited to see the outcome of the State and National finals.”
EITR Consulting is one of six QLD businesses to be named a finalist in the Indigenous Excellence category, with the overall state level winner announced on 3 October 2025. From there, the successful businesses will progress to National judging, with winners announced at the National Gala Dinner on 20 November 2025.
